Automation in Lyric Pad 3 is what we refer to automated scrolling of the on screen content.

In Lyric Pad 3 there are two main types of automation. Intelligent and Basic.
There are also several types of automation events that can be used to further customize automation in a song.

Intelligent Automation

Intelligent automation uses the songs duration to determine the optimal scroll start delay and the optimal scroll speed to suit the document. It do this it takes into account the number of lines displayed on the screen determined by font size, the number of lines in the entire document and the duration of the song.
Intelligent automation is only possible if a songs duration is entered for a song (in the editor meta data page)
Pause events are the only events that work with Intelligent Automation.

Basic Automation

Basic automation uses a preset start delay and a preset scroll rate. If these are not specifically set for the song Lyric Pad will use the global rates set in Settings - Automation.
Basic automation has a large variety of automation events available to allow complex automation.
Events available:
  • Pause - Stop when triggered for a set time, then recommence scrolling
  • Stop - Stop when triggered
  • Start Down - Start scrolling down when triggered
  • Start Up - Start scrolling up when triggered
  • Speed Change - Change the scrolling speed when triggered
  • Jump To - Immediately jump to a specific point on the page when triggered

Events can be triggered in three ways
  • At a certain play time
  • A certain line number reaching the top of the page
  • A certain page percentage reaching the top of the page

It should be noted that events are triggered in order.
ie. Event 3 cannot be triggered until Event 2 is completed

For more information on editing events refer to the editor section of this manual.
